Tips to stop overfeeding?

Hi, my 3 week old ds has been spitting up lots more than usual and shrieking the house down after feeding recently - not like her normal self. Just been to see the doctor as I was worried that it was reflux, but they think it's more likely that she's overfeeding. So I need to see if feeding her less helps. Thing is that it's easier said than done (she's breastfed) as she seems to be constantly rooting when she's awake, and when she's having a screaming fit, the only way to quiet her seems to be by offering her a breast (dummies don't seem to work during these episodes). I've had to reluctantly start giving her a dummy at other times, but has anyone got any other tips that would help stop overfeeding?

from what I've heard you can't overfeed a breastfeed baby - however, it sounds like reflux - is your ds projectile vomiting? if she is thats reflux, and sucking will make her feel better - continue to use anything that helps - like a dummy, and see your unhelpful doctor for some baby gaviscon. don't let them tell you that your overfeeding at 3 weeks old!

Hi, yeah I thought you couldn't overfeed a breastfed baby either. But at the same time, she has been snacking a lot, and not feeding properly. The vomit hasn't been projectile, but it has been abundant. I've been giving her a dummy to keep her from snacking, and this seems to be helping, but I suspect she might have a mild case of reflux too, like you said. Will investigate the Gaviscon - thanks :-)
