Please tell me to keep going!

I'm knackered, DD still going through growth spurt. Mum keeps giving useful advice such as formula won't hurt you know. Mum didn't BF and neither did any of my friends past 6 weeks. DD now 19 weeks, 20 on Friday!

Keep going! You are getting to the easy part!

All this effect you've done to get breastfeeding established, please don't stop now! Growth spurts won't last forever, and when she's six months you can start giving her solid food.

Really you don't want to be faffing around with bottles, formula etc - especially as there is no guarantee that this will help with her growth spurt!

Can your mum not help you in other ways so that you can get a break?

I found that 20 week age really tough, kept going and it settled down again. Once she reached weaning it got much much easier and its no bother now at all. Keep going if you can, keep reminding yourself that the seemingly-neverending-spurt WILL end and then it will be better! Goodluck!

sounds like you are going really well! are you trying to do lots of other things? Do you have the chance to hunker down and rest and only feed and sleep?

When you are pooped every feed can feel like a chore. Rest, take people up on offers of help, and it will pass

Mum gives her useful advice over skype. Today it was to put baby rice in a bottle. Yeh great thanks Mum

Sorry just feeling down today. In an hour I pick DH up from work and can talk to some colleagues of his for a bit.

As many of you know you can only walk around the park so many times...

are there no baby groups / soft play things where you live?

I have only found a baby massage class which we always go to. The other mums are really nice to me, but they don't seem to want to meet up at other times. My language skills are OK but they all seem to have their own friends, family and lives.

I went to a British womens group the other day, but they were all 50 plus. A good morning out though.

It's a real pain and bad timing on our part. All my friends have DC's, but went back to work as I started maternity leave.

It sounds like you are doing everything right - going to groups, talking to your husband's colleagues. I know it's hard having a small child in a foreign country. I hope it gets better for you soon.

i have been waiting for DD (age 18 weeks)to rediscover her ability to sleep from 7.30pm-5am for weeks now (said episode only lasted for a few weeks anyway!), last night she was feeding every 2-3 hours.am fending off 'helpful' suggestions of baby rice(though not in a bottle!!!) from the older generation....

are you co-sleeping/feeding lying down in bed?

Agree with everything said, it's a hard growth spurt to get through...but it will be worth it!! Just take 1 day at a time and soon it'll be really easy and you won't be phaffing with bottles etc! Good luck!

It will be SO worth it once you get over this difficult patch. It will! Don't listen to people who tell you to just give up if you want to keep going. There is a light at the end of the tunnel
