Dd2 is 9 days old, dd1 is 2yrs old. My boobs are constantly full and sore. They feel like massive bruises, is this because dd1 has stepped up her bf and is emptying them more than a baby could. Everyone is telling me to cut down on feeding her so that they are not being emptyed as much so wont fill so much but that is the last thing i want to do as i don't want to reject her at the minute as i think it will make her upset that baby is getting 'nu nu' and not her.

Will my boobs sort themselves out? And if so, when? Im in agony.

bumping for you

How long have you been engorged for? Engorgement usually sorts itself out within a week to ten days, IME. I know it's a right pain in the meantime though.

Your boobs will sort themselves out, yes. Soon, but no-one can quantify exactly how long it will take for you, as everyone is different.
I agree with you re not rejecting your dd1 - I let dd feed freely for a few weeks when ds was born for the same reason.

In a bit of a different position, as bfeeding twins (5 months old), so not sure what you can do, but can confirm that tandem feeding will stimulate your milk supply. I feed one breast each, each feed, and swap the breast to allow for appetite differences. I am sure it will all balance out eventually?

If you are in pain, either get your baby/toddler to nurse or express just enough to be comfortable.

I found it took around 2 months for my milk supply to normalise second time around, with tandem nursinf my 2 year old DD and newborn DS. I let toddler DD nurse on demand and woke her up a couple of times to insist see if she wanted milk.

Good luck
