Will dh feel left out??

Hiya,
With my 1st ds, we bottlefed. My dh would do most of the feeds when he was off work, and would always do the night feeds, as he really enjoyed the bonding. I did every other feed, by bottle, in the day when dh was in work.
However, as most of you know, Im going to try to bf 2nd child (Im 23 weeks pg), and am pritty nervous about it all.
However, concerned that dh may feel left out? How did your dh/dp feel? Dh has said that he will miss the night feeds, but at least he can stay asleep lol

When ds was born he was bottle fed for a while due to refusing the breast, but after a week or so he took to the breast no probs!
Up until then DP had been sharing feeds, and really enjoying it.

I asked him if he missed giving DS his bottle, and he said he did kind of, but that he was more pleased that I had got the b/f sorted, and that DS was getting the breastmilk than anything else....

good on you for trying to bf your next child, I am an outspoken member of the breastfeeding mafia I shall make no bones about that.
In my experience when the second child arrives it's all hands on deck when and where appropriate and you guys will all be so busy that DH won't have time to feel left out. He will welcome the chance to stay asleep at night while you do the feeds because he's going to need his energy during the day.

There are loads of ways he can bond with baby number 2, doing bathtimes for skin to skin contact, nappy changing and winding. And don't forget ds1 will appreciate having daddy more to himself while mum is feeding the baby at the beginning.

He can still get up and pass you a baby, and then put baby back in crib! I found it really helped ds to settle if I didn't get all cold.

No. But he does all the bathtimes for ds and dd, which is real bonding time.

Also, doing all the nappies can be very bonding, I believe

I breastfed dd and as someone else said, dp was just glad she was getting the best, he didn't miss out on bonding at all he took charge with nappy changing and bathtimes and they are really close and always have been.

As i was going back to work i started expressing at 4 weeks and dp offered her this in a bottle at one feed a day. I have to say he thoroughly enjoyed this.

Don't feel nervous, all will be fine!
