one heavy/full breast and one light/empty breast-help

whats going on?
im feeding my 6 week old dd,and my breasts feel different from eacother. never happened before.

is my supply going down?

It happens to (almost) everyone occasionally, and some women have it longer term (though it always normalises after a few weeks). It usually simply reflects i) a difference in 'performance' of both breasts - abs.normal ii) a preference by the baby for one of the breasts - again normal.

Nothing to do with supply going down, unless there is other stuff going on (baby having bottles instead of bf) and you haven't said, so just assume it's normal!

i was getting worried, so i was doing 2 feeds from that side, to stimulate supply

never happened before with dd1, and she was feed for a yr, and then self-weaned, which im still sad about, thats another story.

For ages I always had one that seemed fuller than the other.

I dont think it is anything to worry about.

with dd the difference wasn't so great, plus dd2 doesn't feed for that long from the first week, plus she has reflux, so i was told she wasn't stimulating my breast enough on that side. so told to do 2 feeds from that side, only been doing that since yesterday, no difference still.

also i was told emotion affect supply, and i have been very tired and emotional for a long time.

Hmmmm....emotion doesn't really affect supply. The human race's physiology is a bit more robust than that, happily There's plenty of research to show that supply remains just fine, even in really difficult circumstances....obv being very emotional can affect confidence and the way you feel about bf, and in those situations mothers sometimes start giving bottles or trying to schedule feeds or something. That is what might affect supply, but it's not the emotion directly affecting it.

Sudden shock, or serious, acute stress may affect let down very temporarily.

Usually, you can leave the breasts to sort themselves out - no need to deliberately feed twice on one side, for instance. But there may have been a reason for this advice, I dunno. If you have boosted the supply on one and not the other, then this might account for the diff. in size, as you say.
