Entertainment ideas for a two year old when you're bf new baby...... come and post your ideas here.....

I m with boober. All previous issues about the evils of tv disappear!!

As you will be attached to baby, any previous innoculous activities turn into disasters. Glue on chairs, cutting own hair, crayons on walls, flooding kitchen/bathroom as you abandon new child to save house from burning down.............

cbeebies here too. It's when you get to the third repeat of the day that you realise you may have gone too far...

My ds was already well used to being abandoned before dd came along, so amuses himself quite well. I found books and puzzles a good thing, also helping him build a train track and then retiring to sofa with dd for minimum effort required on my part!

Also, CBeebies and sundry DVD's!

Of course, thankfully I was still feeding my two year old when my new baby was born, so I mainly 'entertained' him by tandem feeding. Otherwise I was fending off countless requests for 'milkies'....

Boober! Are you me?! I'm tandem nursing now (though have restricted ds to sleepytimes only) and we call it milkies too.

And we watch Far Too Much CBeebies. And also The Incredibles. Over, and over, and over, and over.....

Boober and UD - did you up the feeds for the toddler when feeding the newborn? I'm wavering, can't decide whether to do short term pain for long term gain!

SPB - i force weaned ds when I was pg, as it was too painful. When dd was born and he saw her nursing, he asked to try again, and I let him because I was fairly sure he wouldn't have his latch. Doh! He nursed more for a while, when I was too knackered to limit it and deal with the tantrums, but limited it to sleepytime (before bed and nap, and first thing in the morning, and sometimes after nap if we don't have to be anywhere) when dd was about 8 weeks old.

He loves nursing with dd, and will often ask to nurse together, and I allow it for as long as possible as I'm told it can help strengthen the sibling relationship. I get very touched out very quickly with him though, and can only nurse him for 10 minutes or so at a time, which is much less than he would like!

Thanks. I have got DS down to morning and bedtime and the very odd occasion through the night. Love the thought of something to entertain him during the day that isn't Beebies! but not sure if I want to take a step back - I think it'll be very hard to get to here again. Maybe I just need to see how it goes rather than making plans. TBH I'll probably be half asleep on the sofa with the baby and he'll latch himself on!

TAFKA - it's great to meet someone else who is tandem feeding - even if it's 'virtually'.

LadyStealth - My toddler def fed a LOT more once there was lots of milk after a fairly dry pregnancy. I do think that it depends on the baby though. DS1, now 3, is a milkies monster - always has been. DS2 is 10 mo now and is already wanting less feeds than DS1. (I do make sure he has more though!)

I tandem fed for a while but DS self-weaned about 2 months ago. Now I entertain him with cbeebies, stories and the newly discovered Peppa Pig. We bought a few DVDs for special (read desperate) treats.

Bribery with chocolate has become common.

Oh, and DS1 did up his feeds considerably when DS2 was born.

No, just trying to decide whether to feed him all the time (as he's bound to ask when he sees the baby doing it) or stick firmly to my morning and night routine.

Think I'm just going to have to see what happens at the time. PLanning to use a sling this time so he might not even notice
I do want to feed them both at the same time though, for the loveliness of it! That'll probably be the bedtime feed
