What do you think of this?

it's supposed to be Angelina Jolie breastfeeding. This guy gets on my tits (no pun intended) because he does these awful sculptures of people like britney Spears giving birth and I find them slighty gratuitous. What do you think?

"Does this sculpture portray breastfeeding in a negative way, in your opinion?"

I think it doesn't create a positive image really. I have no issues about people breastfeeding in public, or in private.

I suppose this statue could make mums to be see breastfeeding as an option where they might not have before but I don't think it presents a positive image to help with the whole 'breastfeeding in public' thing, no.

Apart from when life-modelling I've never fed naked in public and haven't seen anyone else doing it.I never understood art only depicting 'public'images, quite the opposite sometimes.

"you make it sound like a hobby" that was not my intention. It was just that I had gathered that a lot of the campaigning RE promoting breastfeeding, and in particular the right to breastfeed in public, centred around stories of women who have been treated badly or stopped from doing so in public places by people who think of breastfeeding as something unpleasant which should be done in private. I do understand there is also a wider campaign to encourage mothers to see breastfeeding as an option and for health professionals to offer more help and advice etc.

I think it is an unhelpful image or at least it is not the greatest and most positive image. it is what it is, a fairly uninspiring statue of a well known (and beautiful) actress breastfeeding her children who is supporting them by gripping them under her arms.

IMO

I think we are in danger of getting away from the real issue here...

...The issue being that the statue, regardless of its connotations is breathtakingly shit.

I mean, you couldn't buy this in the back pages of 'Take a Break' for 29 easy monthly payments of £54.99. It's too shit.

Whatever message the artist was trying to convey is completely obscured by the fact it made me a bit sick in my mouth.

It's horrifying.
