Stopping breastfeeding - should I express?

DD is nearly a year old and I've just stopped breastfeeding. I last fed her on Monday morning (48 hrs ago) and had to express a little this morning (only got about 1 oz) as I was in quite a bit of pain. I was only feeding her once a day before I stopped. Should I just try and go cold turkey and will expressing to relieve engorgement just make the process take longer? How long before I feel comfortable again?

I was told just express enough so you're comfortable and it will reduce over time.

when I've dropped a feed it's taken upto 3 days for my boobs to sort themselves out, but dunno if it's the same if you stop totally...
