Returning to work - should I continue all day time breast feeds up to the final moment ?

I'm going back to work on 1 September when DD will be 6 months and one week old. I've been EBF up to this point and don't want to start giving her solids until 6 months, but don't want to express at work. Should I continue her 5-6 bfeeds a day until I go back to work and then go cold turkey (still bfing before and after work) or introduce a day time formula feed over the next couple of weeks? Advice would be most appreciated.

Oh and yes, Bunny, you're right, it's really sad that on the days I'm not working I'll still have to bottle feed during the day. Think that's going to be one of the worst things about it

hi guys ! Just read the thread there - i have exclusively b fed for 11 months and 3 weeks but heading back to work 7th sept and am dreading the thought of returning to work and stopping b feeding...... i could still do b feed in am and last thing at night but would love to get pregnant again so am thinking it might reduce my fertility slightly !?!?!?!? does anyone know ?!

on a positive note after 8 months because DS was so used to solid food his breast feeds reduced to 7am 2.30 pm and 7pm before bed so some of you may still be able to do breast feeding am and pm and then use the espressed milk (which you have expressed after or at work) for the 2.30 pm feed which nursery or your child minder could give. This might help te whole feeling they arent getting the best stuff.

I think you r right though - it prob is just a case of imaginging it will be all much worse leaving them and not feeding them yourself than it actually is. So soooooooo hard isnt it.
I have occasionally used Amptimal as have been told it most resembles breast milk. i used the wee cartons as thought of using horrible powder stuff made me sick and premade stuff (which am sure no doubt is prob made from powder so am a hypocite !!) seems more natural. On a positive note cos my wee babe is nearly a year at least he will be going straight unto full fat milk which seems v natural.
You will al laugh when i tell u i had orig intended to only BF for 5 months and now here i am nearly a year later !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It is v v v addictive isnt it :-) I love the imtimacy so so much.

Good luck everyone hxx
