Is it essential to wind after each feed?

DD sometimes falls asleep at the boob, and when she does I just put her straight down for her nap. - I don't worry about any sleep associations as she settles herself to sleep just fine at other times when she's tired but not hungry.

However, I don't wind her at these times and am wondering if this is causing her to suffer from wind at other times? does it matter if I haven't winded her?
TIA.
