How long will it take for cocodemol and imodium to get out of my system?

I have a a sickness and diarrhea bug and it's just too bad/painful not to take anything. I have a bottle of ebm and after that i will have to give formula until the drugs are out of my system. Does anyone know when that will be? or where i can find out? the pharmacist was not very helpful when dh asked..

mamakim - it is highly doubtful you need to worry for one second or suspend breastfeeding (direct) at all.

Codeine (in co-codamol) is thought to be very slightly risky in a tiny no. of susceptible babies.

"Co-codamol tablets contain 8mg of codeine per tablet are available to purchase from
community pharmacies and are less likely to produce side effects during breastfeeding." is from the factsheet on pain relievers. There is also another one on codeine.

Imodium is considered safe - see their factsheet on diarrhoea in mothers.

It is very bad of the pharmacist not to be able to reassure you.

Thanks tiktok. I just called them actually. She said i'm fine to carry on bf. The bloody pharmacist said to dh it would take a week to get out of my system before bf hahaha.

Blimey tiktok - I wish I'd thought to check about immodium sometime - I've gone without for 3.5yrs on the assumption that I couldn't have it, and there were def times when I'd have liked to take some!
