Breast pads

Breast pads are not cheap and I'm going through them fast. Has anyone tried reusable ones - are they any good. Can you get disposable ones cheap anywhere or does anyone know of any special offers.

I use the avent washable ones which are about £5 for six. Seem to do the job. I bung them in the drier too (not sure if you're supposed to)

I just make sure I use non bio so I don't end up with sore nips.

I use them. They're fine. Don't know which brands I have by now as they were bought 6 years ago when ds1 was due. They've since been used by my sister for 2 babies and are now back with me, still going strong!

I used the toweling ones they worked fine. Arrrhhhh the joy of little round towelling discs lined up on the radiator.

I used the lilypadz which were fab. They sort of stick on, made of silicone.

I got 600 for about a tenner (I think) from www.breastfeedingheaven.co.uk/heavenly-breastpads/prod_26.html oh, I think they've gone up actually, but still a good deal. They weren't as thin as the Lansinoh ones but better than Boots own ones. Reusables could not stem the flow for me!

So when you use reusables how often do you change them, because whenever I feed, the opposite side pours out and I don't fancy having a wet pad on my nip all day. So I'd just be changing them all the time and would need about 20 to get me through day and night. Are the extra absorbent or something?

Is it me being thick here or what?

I must say I gave up on reusuable breastpads (and I am a hardcore cloth-nappier). I had EmmaJane ones and I leaked so much that all my tops ended up with breastpad-sized damp circles on after an hour or so .

But you might not be as sieve-like as me!

with the lilypaz they push the nipple in, which, most of the time, means you don't leak. I bought mine on ebay & they were fantastic.
