Help! Breast fed 8 mo refusing milk!

I am on holiday and using my phone to write this, so please forgive me if anything is strange. My 8 mo has been under the weather since the night before last (temperature and a bit miserable). Last night when she woke for a feed she screamed instead of feeding but did eventually. Today after a reluctant morning feed she has refused the breast altogether. She is eating. I hand expressed into a mug and she drank some but then refused the rest from a sippy cup and wouldn't take any more from the mug after

Can only suggest keep offering her the breast, keep an eye on nappies, ie they are still getting wet, and if its persisting into tomorrow I would get her checked over...Does she seem otherwise well? Not lethargic/still hot/rashes/very irritable? Maybe also keep expressing a bit, both for supply and to offer in cup.

If she's normally feeding well , so starting off well hydrated, a short spell of reduced intake is not likely to cause a problem but would see someone sooner rather than later tbh. On hols here or abroad?

Is she drinking water or anything else?
Is she wetting her nappies?
How does she seem in herself- ie alert or dopey?
If she is having other fluids plus some milk and food, I wouldn't worry for a day or two but if she is not wetting her nappies or you have other concerns, you should get her seen by a dr.

Advice you've had is about right, I reckon.
Nursing strikes suck, I've had a few with DC4, at about 7m & again around 10m. He never went more than about 20 hrs without feeding, but that's long enough to have put me in discomfort before he felt like it again. Sometimes I had to wait until the middle of the night when his instincts took over. Sometimes I think it's a sore mouth thing because of teething.

Good luck, stick with it, lots of skin-to-skin contact if you can.

Thank you everybody! We're back home now and all is fine. She had me completely freaked because during the night she was panicking every time I picked her up - screaming and flailing like I was trying to kill her - and refusing to latch on. We'd had a less dramatic version of it during the day, too. I couldn't think what was going on and was getting really worried. Not to mention the pain I was in as a result!

But then by Saturday afternoon she was completely back to normal and then I spotted some blood on her gum. I can't think why it didn't occur to me that it might be teething.

I suppose it was her extreme reaction plus the fever that threw me. And dd1 never did anything like it.... bf was her absolutely reliable comfort thing if anything went wrong, so I just couldn't imagine what could make a baby not want to bf. Anyway, I am feeling rather sheepish now. And very grateful to you all for reassuring me. It's somehow more wobbling to have things go wrong when you're away from home!
