Please help ..... 10mon won't drink anything

Hi,

Can someone please help me? I have been BF my daughter for 10months and she refuses to drink anything else. I have tried expressing, formula, cows milk, water, juice and in various different bottles, cups etc. I am going back to work in a couple of weeks and need to get her drinking something. My health visitor hasn't been able to help.

Has anyone encountered this before?

Is she eating solids?

Could you make these very liquid?

Just a start.....?

Is it just you who is offering them?

She absolutely loves her food (provided it is home made). She now prefers her food with lumps but if pushed will still eat pure pureed foods.

We have tried various people giving her a drink. I left her for an overnight at the weekend for the first time and she went 24 hours without drinking.

Do you drink in front of her? Drink water from a beaker of cup and then offer to her. She might want to copy what you are doing.

Yeah we have tried that. The only time I thought that it would work was when I had a can of diet coke and she was fascinated. She put the can to her mouth and tried to drink it. I am just worried that she cuts her mouth on the can.

Straw?

Tried that - but apparently they don't have a sucking reaction until they are 18 months.

DD could drink from a straw at that age.

What about when you're with other babies? I always find that DD loves to drink from a cup that's not hers, even if she has the same cup. And other babies drink from hers.

Have you tried a water bottle? An adult sports/gym type bottle?
