Crazy feeding at 5 weeks and 2days

Thought we had DD in sort of a routine, She is 5 weeks and 2 days and feeds every three - four hours with another feed at 11pm after which she either wakes once at 4am or sleeps through until 7.30amish

However today she seems to be feeding every 2 hours or so and seems really tetchy and irritable. We are sometimes putting off feeding as we are convinced that she can't possibly be hungry again.

Could this be a growth spurt????

She is formula fed (had bad time with medications and breast feeding)

Any help much appreciated xxx

They do this again at about 7 and 12 weeks, all of them do this, it's normal.

Ahhhhhh I thought it might be !!!
How long do these spurts tend to last for,
Bless her she fed just less than an hour ago and touch wood she is being playful now!!! anything is better than the constant crying!!

About 24 hours so not too long.

Thanks xx
Just told hubby "24 hours" and a look of pure relief passed accross his face!! Think he had visions of a screaming baby for a week

No, just be prepared for another one in a couple of weeks (ish) and at 12 weeks. Take it in turns so you can both have a rest.

Cheers xx
Had never heard of growth spurts until DD was born!!
Don't know what I would do without mumsnet! It's where I have got most of my information from!!

ds is 10 now so I didn't have this luxury. He was bf aswell so I happened to mention to the HV that he was sucking me dry, all she said was 'oh, I should have told you about that'

Well after another two bottles last night she fell asleep and slept through until 7.30am (she has been sleeping through the last couple of nights) when I fed her at 7.30 she then brought a lot of milk back up all over me. So now Im a bit confused as to whether it was a growth spurt or whether she was just being greedy last night ???
