How often should BF 3 week old poo?

DD has only pooed a handful of times in her entire 3 weeks with the last time being last Wednesday. She's feeding well, gaining weight and has lots of wet nappies but should I be concerned about the lack of poo?

If she is gaining weight well and producing lots of wet nappies, and seems as content as you would expect a 3wk old to be, then I can't see there being a problem - assuming the poos are normal and don't cause pain.

Hm, well my BF DD pood several times a day (during every feed). Which is not to say that I think there is anything wrong with your DD, but I would probably mention the lack of poo to the HV to be on the safe side.

My first only pooed once a week until she started on solids and I was told it was just that there was no waste with my milk. Every child is different so I would always check with my HV.

Have her poos transitioned to being a mustardy yellow? If so, all is likely well. As the others have said, as long as she is gaining her weight, is content, and the poos you get are "normal" in colour and consistency, there is probably nothing to worry about.

My HV tells a story that the local record for the longest time between poos for a newborn is about 12 days. This little girl she said, woudl only go every 12 days or so, but when she did, she really, really did. DS went about every 4 days. Moving onto solids was a real shock for my poo tolerance!

I have a 3 week old who seems to poo all the time. As others have said though, every child is different. My first baby pooed far, far less. In fact, we were starting to wonder if this baby pooed too often. Mention it to the HV anyway, she won't mind.
