Help! Boob is broken!

I think I have a blocked ducked, with what appears to be lovely accompanying milk blister. But no milk at all appears to be coming out of any other ducts. LO can't get any on suckling and I can't manually express any. Breast feeling very full, lumpy and sore, but I don't know what to do about it! Have tried massaging/ combing under hot shower. We've been trying to feed in different positions but LO is getting too annoyed at not getting any milk on that side to settle easily, plus the tip of the nipple is beginning to feel really sore, a kind of burning sensation, external only, as though it's grating against his hard palate.

Is it normal for the whole breast to 'give up' because of one blocked duct? It's like it doesn't have a let-down reflex anymore. Only been like this for a few hours. Any suggestions?

have you looked on the kellymom site?

Try taking some ibuprofen, it has worked for me in the past. It reduces the inflamation and things get working again.

Yup, there's stuff about using hot compresses, continuing to feed, etc, but I can't find anything about no milk coming out at all.

I will keep trying to feed, but will need to go back to other side if no luck so that the poor bairn gets something to eat

Am soooo lop-sided at the moment. I'd laugh, if I didn't want to cry

kelly mom advice helped me with similar symptoms. I think soaking in hot bath helped too - get some ibuprofen in as soon as possible. Good luck
