Breast abscess

Has anyone had experience of this. I am on my 3rd lot of antibiotics and am guzzling paracetomol and nurofen as often as is allowed. It has been drained at the hospital and ultrasounded. Is there anything else I can do? It is an open discharging wound and I'm worried that I will be left with 2 holes in my boob.

I met a lovely lady in real life who had an bad breast abscess. She said it was truely awful treatment but healed nicely in the end.

Thanks babies, it as you say truely horrible but hoping it will heal ok. Guess I should take heart that it sems to be fairly rare and hopefully won't happen again.

I had an abscess on the surface of my boob with DS1 (big hole about the size of a 10p piece!) - in the end I had to give up BF as the consultant said that it wouldn't heal as long as I was producing milk as milk was coming out of the wound and therefore the wound couldn't dry up effectively and therefore heal. Certainly once I started to give up BF it did heal quickly. Mine came from a blocked duct which took weeks to go (about 6 weeks!). It healed fine and am hoping that won't have any issues like that for second one (due in 3 weeks)
