any tips for squirming, nipping, chewing during BF....and what do I do when she gets teeth?

DD is 8 months, still no teeth but most feeds are more like a fight with her nipping and grabbing me, pulling on my nipples with her rockhard gums and wriggling around like a little monkey. It bloody hurts!

I really don't want to give up BFing her yet, but I end most feeds really fed up with her and seem to spend most of the feed saying 'NO!'so it's not the nice experience it used to be. She also does most of it with a big grin on her face, the little bugger!

Does anyone have any tips on how to deal with this, and also how to deal with BFing when she gets her teeth through? Any encouragement is gratefully received.

TIA

sounds to me like she might be teething...dd pulls more when her wee gums are sore

IME (BFing 3 all who've had teeth before 6 months) the presence of teeth in and of themselves isn't really an issue. As you know a gummy bite can be just as sore!

Keep at it, at least for a few weeks and see if it's just teething. It'll probably settle back down. x
