Why would my supply decrease on one side, whilst increasing on the other?

Have been bf DS for 5 months without any problems until this week.

My supply seems to have dwindled on my left hand side, whereas the right side has increased.

It means that he is never satisfied after a LH feed and my RH is sometimes painfully engorged.

I am obviously now using both sides at every feed.

Is this a problem do you think?

i wouldn't have thought it's a problem. just carry on offering both sides if he wants them, i'm sure it'll even out

Ah good point - am generally offering RH first to relieve discomfort!

Have tried expressing tonight (by hand) and it was non-productive and sore!

Thanks

I have been having the same problem. During the day my 7 week old takes both sides but at night only one so I end up alternating so the fuller side gets a bit empty too. When she has had some of the fuller side iI try to get her to wake up and take the small side too but she keeps falling asleep and to be honest, I don't want her fully awake as then she may stay awake. I have been trying to express more from the smaller side during the day in hope it will increase my supply, is this the correct thing to do? I have ended up expressing the large side too as I'm worried it too will start producing less. I realise i'm probably stimulating the large side too much but need to releave the hardness as it can be a bit painful. Any ideas greatfully recieved! Finally her poo seems a bit more watery so is she getting enough hindmilk, or indeed any from fuller breast at night? RambleOn, I hope you don't mind me jumping on your thread!

Bumping again.

Help - it's getting worse. He is now showing signs of distress at the full breast as the milk is gushing out too fast for him.

Have tried expressing and have to admit I'm rubbish at it
