Have BF DS for 6 months and stopped last week. This afternoon I found a lump in my breast, its a little bit tender but not hot or red and I'm otherwise fine. Both boobs are still leaking small amounts of milk and don't feel engorged. I'm hoping that it is something related to recently stopping BF but I'm terrified it may be something nasty. I'll see my GP on Monday but just wondered if anyone had any experience?

Yeah, I think you'll have lumpy breasts for about a month. I wouldn't worry about it.

It's very likely to be related to stopping bf. If you can massage the lump, with either fingers, or a wide-tooted comb (ideally in the shower) that might help.

Try not too worry (easily said I know!), it is probably to do with stopping breastfeeding, My breasts were leaky and a bit lumpy for quite a while after stopping BF.

Hi. No experience personally but someone on my post natal thread had this happen - stopped BF and found a lump, saw GP, got referred for scan and consultation and was seen last week - it was nothing sinister in her case - tissue knotted together caused by BF I think she said - and she just has to keep an eye on things but has been reassured that it's fine and quite common. Obviously everyone is different and you do right to get checked, but hopefully you'll get the same news as her.

Thanks everyone I do feel a bit better, hoping it will go away.

worriedtonight are you still here? Hope all goes well at the GP today - thinking of you xxx

Thanks traceface, that's really kind of you. I think the lump is smaller today and the doctor I saw was very reassuring. He said that it is almost certainly blocked milk ducts and should settle down, if the lump is still there next week then I'll be referred to the breast clinic for a scan but he really didn't think it was anything to worry about. If anything I feel a bit daft about worrying so much, but better that way. Thanks for everyone's advice.
