not satisfied with left boob

Whenever i feed 3 week old dd from my left boob, she never seems satisfied. she clearly prefers the other one! she drinks more deeply from the other one and it is always bigger, for some reason. i'm trying to feed off the left boob as much as i can to perk it up a bit, but seemingly to no avail. does anyone else have experience of this?

Yes, both my ds were like this with the left. Sometimes it can be because of flow, or position they like lying on.

I always offered non-preferred side first and then switched after 10 mins of faffing. You might also try the rugby ball hold on that side so she is still lying on same side,

Your hv might have more ideas. Do you have a bf support group nearby, i found the bf councelllor really helpful.

It should pass and she should feed well from both sides eventually

yep my ds was the same. I always made sure I made some attempt to feed him from that side, it then became his favourite

I think lots of babies prefer one side over the other. In my case I decided it was probably because my nipples are shaped differently, although over time the differences became less obvious (because of all that feeding). I offered the 'dodgy' side first too, but it did take a while for DD to stop caring which side she was on.

Most babies have a preference tbh. Check her neck though... there is a condition called torticollis which affects the muscles, and this may be preventing her from getting comfortable on that side. GP can show you physio exercises to improve it very easily.
Rugby hold might help, or lie back on cushions, and put her on your tummy- so her legs point down to your legs, and she is on top of your breast... she might find this easiest of all.

should i express from the dodgy one to increase its output do you think?

I wouldn't bother with expressing just yet.
You're supply will just be establishing and babies are far more efficient than pumps. Just put her to the side she dislikes first each time. Frequent feeding on that side will do far more for your supply than a pump could.
