How can I get DD to use a lidded beaker without spilling water?

DD is nearly 15 months.

She has milk and water in bottles. I'm trying to wean her onto beakers with lids but she deliberately shakes the beakers and drops water everywhere. (I tell her "no" but she still does it).

I want to get her off the bottles. Any ideas?

you can get 'non spill' ones with a valve in

Thanks **sticks (wot a name!). Have tried those but she couldn't suck to get the water out, so i took out the valve. Anyway, i thought the point was that the baby had to get used to a steady flow of liquid and not sucking.

My DS would never drink from a bottle so we introduced a cup from 6 months-ish. It took a little while and a lot of mopping up but he is very adept at it now and only shakes the cup if he is not actually thirsty - so then i take it off him (he's 15mo now btw). You're right also about the non-spill ones, imo there's not much difference between those and a bottle - the ones i tried you had to suck really hard!!

Just try and be patient - she'll get there in the end!

just keep saying no and removing it. it's gradually working for ds2

My 14 month old can use a straw now, so maybe try a beaker with straw top - they are non spill too
