Hello, new to this. Have been called for jury duty when my baby is only 18weeks. Have been exclusively breastfeeding apart from very occasional EBM and don't want to be forced into giving FF. Has anyone else been in this situation? is it possible to get exemption on these grounds? Ta

you get a couple of chances to opt out if that makes sense

I would have thought that would be very valid grounds, and if not, kick up the most enormous stink. They'll probably make you do it again at some point but am sure you'd be able to get an exemption for that...

I would just phone them and explain the situation. I expect that they will just defer it fo a while, and call you up again later.

Thanks for responses. Am worried that BF won't be considered a valid excuse as I have had my last call ups excused/deferred due to work difficulties.

Nothing to do with bf - your baby is 18 weeks and far too young for you to be expected to arrange day care for him, whatever way you are feeding him.

Just fill in the form for exemption.

There should be no problems at all with this.

don't worry, you have a small baby to look after - period! I got out of mine when was 8 months preg + toddler with no prob

Thanks to everyone who replied. It helped me keep calm over the weekend. Spoke to v nice lady in jury office who said it should be OK. At worst will need letter from GP to confirm. Cheers. xx
