Headache and feeling physically ill when breastfeeding - Any ideas?

Hello

My friend has a three week old baby. She has been very ill and is still recovering from a serious haeomorrage after her good, natural labour. Despite this she has managed to breastfeed, but seems to have a rare condition when their hormone release makes her feel physically ill and causes her a bad headache. She has been adviced to Formula feed and is now only BF a little bit now and then, but says she still seems to have allot of milk. She really wanted to breastfeed. I just wondered if anyone out there had anything to improve things so maybe she can breastfeed more. Also, has anyone gone from breast to bottle to breast again???

hmm well my advice would be to call the NCT/LLL pronto.
I suspect they may well have a lot more advice than just "formula feed" which seems a bit unnecessary imo.

but if she does want to breastfeed she needs to act quick because at 3 weeks it would be very easy for her to lose her supply quite quickly.
so get her to call someone and get some advice from someone who really knows about this stuff

Yes she can go from breast to bottle to breast again but might need help.
Has she access to some good breastfeeding support?
