Dream feeding tips please?

I only heard about dream feeding for the first time a couple of weeks ago and am not entirely sure how it works. I just tried it with 17 week ds but he was so fast asleep I couldn't even get it in his mouth never mind get him to suck. All I have accomplished is two very leaky boobs! Can some one please explain what to do?

Try feeding him 90 minutes after he fell asleep, or multiples of 45 minutes - they sleep in cycles and may be less heavily asleep then. iyswim

i think its just a pattern they get into .. we feed dd about 17 wks about an hour before she normally wakes for a feed - to try and give more time to the next feed ..
lord knows if it works or she's just got used to another feeding time ...

Have you tried squirting expressing a few drops of milk into his mouth to get him going?
