Baby thinks my nipples are dummies

Have 7 and a half month old dd and bf exclusively from birth. She accepted a dummy once or twice in the first few weeks but won't now. At first she would go down to sleep awake but after a couple of months she resisted and i would feed her to sleep.
Now she will only go to sleep if i feed her and will not sleep at all during the day in her buggy.
She tends to feed after dinner and nap on my knee but will not drop my nipple. If I move she reaches out for it and gets upset.

I am planning to bf for another couple of monts at least but need to get her to go to sleep by herself.

Any tips welcome

Debs, annoying as it is, remember that babies used dummies as nipples and not vice versa! To her your nipples are the best thing ever, no wonder she wants them!

I would try getting your dh/dp to settle her.

She'll make you really sore if you let her do this. You do need to do something. I would just put her down, stroke her face to show her that you are there or see if dh/dp can settle her as moondog says.

Has she always done this or is it recent? DS goes through phases - on Saturday he slept nipple in mouth or was feeding from 12 - 6pm with only a few short breaks!

She doesn't suck on me all the time she just seems to need my nipple there, so luckily I'm not sore.

Hasn't done it all the time maybe since about 2-3 months old. I have tried settling her and going back and shushing, patting, rocking etc and she gets really upset. Even cuddling her doesn't work as she can smell my milk. When we go for a walk during the day I leave her to sleep and in the last few weeks she has got worse. She used to cry for a couple of mins then drop off, just like dd1 did. Now she is screaming for about 20 mins or so and still not going over
