dd quite often sleeps through but she has been up for most of last night crying. She wont feed and goes nuts if I offer. She is awake and crying now

She has fed in the night the last three nights and my boobs feel like they are going to explode

Have you tried giving her a dose of calpol or anything? (not sure if you can at that age now?).

Have you checked her mouth for thrush?

Did she feed normally yesterday evening?

Temperature?

FourArms · 01/05/2009 06:44

I think sometimes they get so stressed by crying that they can't feed. What about wrapping her up and taking her for a walk in her pram?

ijustwant8hours · 01/05/2009 06:48

thanks, she was overly fussy yesterday and not feeding well. I managed to see the GP who couldn't find anything wrong. I've given her a bit of teething gel. Can't see any sign of thrush. I keep getting her calm and then trying to feed her - at which point she goes nuts. Might just try every half hour or so. Really wish dh would get up, this is really stressful!

could you try giving her some cool boiled water rom a spoon or bottle as it sounds like she is dehydrated. Or perhaps express some milk

have dug out a pump and am sterlising it now. If she wont take anything we will go and find a doctor. I don't think she is badly dehydrated

It may just break the cycle a bit iyswim? Expressing was a lifesaver for me and DD

I think you should go to the GP anyway. If she has fed OK for fourth months this is not likely to be a bf issue. I seem to remember DD having something similar at 4 months. 12 hours is a long time to go without a feed.
Are you able to do skin-to-skin or babymoon also (not always possible if you have other kids). An intensive feed-in, not cooled boiled water or rehydration fluids, is probably the way to go but I do agree about the expressing, if only to calm your nerves. Hope things sort themselves out soon

four months

She took a bottle and is now asleep. Seems to be a breast aversion! I have a 2.5 year old so no babymoon for me....

Speaking of which he wants to play with the computer now. Thanks for all the advice, contact with people that are over 3 seemed to help a lot!
