BF and tranexamic acid

I am having my 2nd period since having ds2. He is 10 months old now and feeding twice a day.

It is horrific (as was the first). I am having to change a super plus tampon every 1 1/2 hours.

I've been doing a bit of research and it seems that tranexamic acid is the first line treatment for excessively heavy loss.

Does anybody know if this is safe to take while still bf?

Go and get a mooncup instead. Most people find that they go from tampon every 1-11/2 hrs to mooncup average about 5 hrs. Also most people report a markedly reduced loss within a few months. I know this wasn't really the response you were looking for but it might be worth looking into

ps I will never ever use a tampon again my mooncup has honestly changed my life...

I've been taking tranexamic while bf-ing (although my son is 4 so might be a different matter for a small baby).

I have to contradict kitkat - I've found the Mooncup to be useless for heavy periods. But opinions do vary wildly on it.

I should also say that I found my first one or two periods after birth very heavy, and then they settled down, so it might be worth waiting a couple of months to see if the situation improves.

I am thinking of trying a mooncup but am sticking with tampons for now so that I can see if things are staying the same or improving iyswim.

Policywonk - thank you for giving me some hope - I'm keeping my fingers crossed that I'm the same as you.
