When would you introduce a dummy?

DC is nearly 8 weeks; for the past couple of days has been drooling a lot (lots of bubbles around her mouth). I wonder if she needs to suck something, not shown that much interest in her hands. Should I be introducing a dummy? Does she need to suck something? Sorry for rubbish first timer question!

She's just drooling. No need to give her a dummy imo

DS started sucking hands, fingers, my nose, his clothes etc. at about two months and hasn't had his mouth empty since.

But he flatly refuses to suck a dummy!
