My 5 month old has bitten my nipple when she pulled off at the end of a feed. She has punctured the skin and it hurts like hell and 24hrs later it feels so sore it is making me feel ill even having clothes next to it. Anyone know what I can out on it in order to soothe/heal it that won't affect her? Thanks

Sorry to hear that you have reached the painful stage already. Fortunately they soon learn not to bite if it means an instant and unceremonial end to the feed. In the meantime, cold cabbage leaves in the bra are apparently genuinely soothing.

Thanks for the reply. I tried cabbage when I had mastitus (sp?) with dd1 and it does soothe. I will try and find a shop open as the night time feed could bring tears to my eyes if not eased by then!

you could also try putting a plastic tea strainer over your nipple so you can leave it open to the air/stop clothes touching it and help it heal quicker.
