7 month with milk allergy??

I changed my 7 m.o from SMA gold to SMA red about a 6 wks ago as we had successfully weaned him - breakfast, lunch and dinner on 4-6 month foods. I switched him to the red SMA cos he wouldn't take the recommended amount of the gold SMA so thought the red would give him all the nutrition he needed without the volume.

All was fine until 3 wks ago when he got a virus, he was coughing and throwing up all his food. We stopped giving him food, he was dehydrated but took his water and bottles and within a few days was rehydrated again.

He hasn't really gone back properly onto his food but is happy on his milk. So I thought. We've started re-introducing food as he seems more interested but he keeps being sick.

I did some searches on line and it seems to suggest a milk allergy but what other symptoms should I be looking for? His nappies are disgusting, really loose, smelly stools but he seems perfectly content.

HELP!!!!

Unlikely to be a milk allergy (in the sense of cows milk protein allergy)....that's something babies are born with and you'd have seen other symptoms.

Could be a temporary lactose intolerance, though, after his bug.

What does the HV/doc say?

I'm there this afternoon with him. He wasn't losing weight and seemed so content I thought it was just a bug - I've been ill myself too so just thought that if he felt as I did then that would explain it.

These past 2 days though its just getting worse - He seems to just throw up whatever I give him.

Doc tells me its a virus, milk issue is just a sidebar to the bug.

Panic over
