Long story short. Crap MW, terrible advice, forced top-ups and had to stop BF at 6 weeks.

I want to complain about the MW as she was terrible and really undermined my BF. But I'm not quite sure what to do.

I have drafted a letter to the PCT but I was wondering if anyone else has complained or if you just let it go?

Hi, good on you for complaining, things wont change until more of us do, I had a rubbish time BF with my first two (they're now 15 and 14)like you I was told to give top ups before eventually being told to "stop torturing the poor baby" and give it formula, I was told I had a fast let down reflex that was making the baby gag and made correct attachment extremely hard and rather than advise me they just told me to stop and because of it I didnt even try with my following kids but I've just had another baby and all during pregnancy I was told how wonderful the help was now and how support is widely available and was given tonnes of pressure to BF and so I thought I'd give it a try, I explained that my problems with my first two were bad attachment and a fast let down reflex that made the baby gag and spit out the breast so I was looking for specific advice and was told to "just keep trying" and that was it, that was the wonderful support that I'd heard so much about!! After 15 years I expected them to have changed but it seems nothing has!! I've not had a response to my complaint as of yet, let me know if you do!

i was told i could not take my baby home from SCBU unless he was topped up and gained weight as he was born premy. but what can you do when they hold you to ransome like that. I was just too exhausted from travelling such a long way each day and hours and hours at the hospital.
