On Sunday ds 17 wks decided he didn't want bf anymore and has now gone on to formula but obviously i am having to express as i am getting engourged. Should i be expressing it all off or just a little to take away the pain. Also how long will it take for my milk to dry up ???

if you want to stop breazxtfeeding then just express enough off to relieve the pain,

tegan, if you are not happy to stop bf - and 17 weeks is extremely early for a baby to self-wean - then think about this situation as a nursing strike (lots of info about this in mumsnet archives and on the web). This could be just a temp. situation.

Did the HV not explain this?

Yes, your headaches could be related.

hv said that O had obviously made his choice to stop bf and that i could still try to bf as well as ff but personally it realy would be hard as i have other children to consider

tegan, if your baby had been bf normally with no bottles (or only the occasional one) then I would be pretty certain your HV was 100 per cenrt wrong. Four month old babies do not stop breastfeeding out of 'choice'.

Up to you what you do, of course, but you need to be aware this is your choice to stop, and not your baby's.

agree wholeheartedly with tiktok.
