DS has been exc bf until now and he's nearly 6 months. I am going back to work in a few weeks so am beginning to stop bf. The thing is I'm not sure how much to give him. I always bf on demand and DS fed roughly every 2 hours sometimes more frequently. And he still wants to feed every 2 hours with formula. He's had 2 x 180 ml bottles in the last 3 hours. I'm assuming I should just feed on demand like with bf but can I overfeed him?

I was told by my HV that you cant 'overfeed' them wiht formula - the more they take, the longer they wil go between feeds. It is hard to know how much to give them but it might be worth trying to get DS to go longer between feeds, therefore structuring when he feeds a bit more, so it can get to 3 and a hal/4 hourly. this will be better when u go back to work, an dit will prob helpDS to have a feeding routine when you are nto around.
I knwo they are all different but my DD is 4 months old and has a 7oz bottle 5 times a day at 7am, 11am, 3pm, 6.15, (bed at 7), wake up for 11pm feed. Goes through till 6.30am/7. She doesnt take the full 7oz every time, varying between 5-7. Hope this helps.

Also as DS is nealr y 6 months are you thinking of weaning?

hope this helps
