cluster feeding for newborn?

Was wondering if anyone elses newbie has such odd feeding patterns as Saskia does. She feeds all morning on and off , sleeps all pm [1-5] feeds all evening on and off, then sleeps 11-6. Have tried waking her to feed her but she isnt having a bar of it. She is weeing and pooing fine. dd1 was a real every three hours baby so this is all new to me. Does it sound okay?

I think it sounds brilliant - you get all afternoon to yourself and then a good night's sleep. Ds was an on off feeder all day and all night at the beginning!!

Oh, for a baby like Saskia - I'm with popsy on this, make the most of your long sleeps - if my little dd is anything to go by, it'll probably all change in a few days! Why are babies so unpredictable? Seriously though, if she seems fine in every other way then I wouldn't think you need to worry.

Both my last two were just like that, they put on weight really well and I got plenty of rest - it was heaven! it carried on for quite a while.
Now I have the twins and one feeds every two hours and the other every three hours, day and night - I'd rather have cluster feeding any day!

What are you worried bout with the weigh in? I think they put far too much emphasis on growth charts and weighing. I've just had the HV on the phone nagging me to take babies for weighing. I don't want to. They won't appreciate being stripped off and weighed and I can see they are growing. Bloody hvs!

It's enough to drive you mad isn't it? My GP told me to stop BFing dd at 6 weeks because I got mastitis, even tho she was putting on loads of weight. I ignored him.
I try to avoid them all as much as poss now, ds was only ever weighed at his regular checks. I've moved now tho, and they seem even more insistant that I go for regular weigh ins here.
The twins are fine thanks, gettign a lot mroe settled. Akshay is happy when he is swaddled and will sleep for hours. Ravi is still a very hungry baby and a lot more wakeful, but he doesn't cry much so we're all happy. He stares at me for ages with the whites of his eyes showing and the most manic expression on his face.
How is Saskia doing otherwise?
