Breastfeeding and mirena coil

Hi, i've just had a mirena coil fitted. Have spoken to my doctor before hand and had mentioned that i was still breastfeeding, however just read a leaflet that was given to me after the coil was fitted and it said that i should discuss it with a doctor if you are breastfeeding. The doctor never mentioned anything about it beforehand and I was just wondering if anyone else has had one of these fitted and continued to breastfeed.

Thanks

Is the mirena coil the hormonal coil? If so I have it and have continued to breastfeed. The nurse who advised me was fully aware that I was breastfeeding and never mentioned any probs. It is fab - no periods!

I had one fitted when DS was 12 weeks old, and continued to bf till he was 23 months.

Both my GP and the FP doctor said they were fine, and FP doctor very clued up as she had had one before TTC, and was 30 weeks pg when she put my new one in. And she intended to have another mirena put in as soon as she could
