My DD2 is 10 days old. I have been bf her, but two nights ago me and DH decided that we would introduce a bottle of formula around midnight for him to give to her, basically to give me a break.

Since then, in the evening, she's been reluctant to feed and it's been a nightmare keeping her awake. I've had to wake her for her feeds and I'm not sure she's getting full feeds as she's dropping off so quickly. I'm doing the usual tickling, stripping down and nappy changes and nothing seems to work.

She's feeding every 2/3 hours in the day and every 3/4 hours at night. Could it be she just doesn't need all these feeds? She's pooing and weeing fine and although she's only been weighed once (she lost 150g) I'm pretty sure she's getting chubbier.

I'm confused - help!

All sounds absolutely fine to me, if you're worried phone your health visitor, they're always happy to help and they'll be able to weigh her again to reassure you all is OK. I've heard that formula takes longer to digest than breastmilk which could explain why your dd2 is sleeping longer after the formula? I know lots of mums whos babies went 3/4 hours between feeds at night, but if you're worried think you should get her weighed just to make sure.
