16 month old bf and spotting

Hi,

Not sure whether this is any way related to bf or not, and will make appointment to go to dr, but just wondering if anyone else has had this...

I'm still bf my 16 month old and have had much more regular periods than ever before since they returned at around 10/11 months. But last month I had a much lighter period than usual (3 days not 6) and this month some very light spotting for 3/4 days before my period has properly come... it hasn't arrived yet. This is very unusual for me.

Using condoms so preg unlikely... so could this be related to still bf? I'm feeding twice a day for four days a week and four times a day ish for three days a week.

Any thoughts?

hi annabanana - yes it could well be.

Your progesterone levels might be much lower with the bf which results in the spotting.

I am still feeding ds who is 3.4yo and spot for three or four days before the proper bleeding starts, and for up to day 10 or so of my cycle. I wasn't like this before bf, so can only assume that it is the bf to blame for both the spotting and my inability to conceive no2 after 2yrs of trying.

I would still do a pg test just to rule it out though.
