Where can I purchase nice/pretty tops that are good/practical for BFing and won't require exposing my horrible post baby belly!

I just wear either a vest top or a boob tube under anything tight fitting that would mean exposing flesh when lifting it up. Lift the top up and pull the vest/boob tube down. Works really well!

i had a few from various places, but tbh the best solution i found was to wear a vest top, with a regular top over it.
pulled my normal top up, and the vest down so everything stayed covered.

Nontoxic · 03/03/2009 21:35

I just want to say avoid those awful shirts with the slits over the boobs.

It's so wierd-looking, flopping out a boob through a hole in your top - you might as well have a sign saying'come and watch me bf everybody!' I can't believe anyone could sustain bf for long wearing one of those babies!

But any nice top should do as long as it's not too tight or too short. Just needs to be big enough to stuff a baby under.

You never fit through the slits anyway and it looks kind of s&m with your nipple poking through.
I'd go for the bump band things underneath your top (2 for a tenner in h&m), always wear a cardigan and loose tops only.

What a great idea re the vest under a normal top! I have a DS aged 3 and will be due number 2 soon. I BF my son and enjoyed it but do remember feeling a little uncomfortable exposing my tummy (very vain I know and wasn't bothered about my boobs!).

Will check out M & S vests

i also wear a vest top, with a regular top over it, works fab.

thisisyesterday · 03/03/2009 21:45

and yes, agree with previous posters re the slitty tops!
it's very hard to pull a boob out through a slit in your top without everyone seeing the entire thing

sasamaxx · 03/03/2009 21:46

Sazzles - so with these ones, you don't end up 'stuck in the slit' with baby desperately trying to attach to the fabric straining around your nipple as you (red-facedly) desperately yank at it to free yourself and calm your screaming baby??

roseability · 03/03/2009 21:46

Do you guys wear a BF bra under the vest top as well?

Divineintervention · 03/03/2009 21:48

Jojo Maman Bebe.....lovely and cheap too!! T

sasamaxx · 03/03/2009 21:49

Well I do, but I didn't know the vest-top-trick until tonight...do you stretch it right under your boob then? Do you buy a size too big?

thisisyesterday · 03/03/2009 21:49

yes to the nursing bra

jellybeans · 03/03/2009 21:53

yes i wear a bf bra and the vest is fitted but stretchy, outer top comes up, vest goes down, shove baby under top!

sasamaxx · 03/03/2009 21:57

Not sure why we bother though - babies do everything they can to expose us anyway.

LOL!

Nontoxic · 03/03/2009 22:15

That vest thing sounds like a good idea. And I'd second the usefulness of (cotton) cardigans.

mum4ever · 03/03/2009 22:17

You could try this vest top as it has the drop cups - Easier top open. Still wear with another top or a cardi though
