I have to go back to work soon and she won't take water or milk from cup or bottle, I'm worried that when I'm away for 9+ hours she will get distressed and thirsty. Does anyone have any advice please?

What sort of cups have you tried? I found ds would drink from a supported open cup, whereas dd prefers breastmilk from Mummy, but can be presuaded to drink water via a lidded screwtop cup with a v short pop-up straw (from Morrisons). Otherwise, lots of watery foods (fruit, soup etc) and gentle persistence from the carer

I've tried all sorts, open, tommee tippee, spouted, free flow.. She takes a sip or two but nothing significant. Do you think I should try leaving her for a few hours soon and then again a few days later for a little longer etc until we've done the 9 hours?
I haven't been away from her for more than 2 hours since birth!
Thank you

My 15mth old breastfeeds, and drinks maybe only 100ml water per day even now. At 10 mths he took far less.

I don't give him juice (other than what his goji berries get soaked in - he loves these!) as I'd prefer he took water. Some days he wants more, some less. I offer a few teaspoons in a Doidy cup as frequently as possible, but he often just plays with it. I started to leave his cup visible on the worktop and he will go to it if he wants water now.

Good advice re watery foods. If baby is thirsty she'll work out what to do.
