hi,

my DH & I are off to London next weekend to do a wine tasting course (we were given the vouchers last Christmas, but have only just got round to using them!)

DD will be 4.5 months old, and is going to spend the day with her grandparents (who are very excited!) I'm still b/f, but she happily takes the occasional bottle of EBM if I go out, so I'm not too worried about that.

The course runs from 11 - 4. I'm not planning on getting drunk, but think I will be tasting quite a few wines and will be given a couple of glasses to drink with my lunch. Do you think that as long as I express on the train home (5ish) my milk will be ok to give her at bedtime? (7ish)

I would like to do her bedtime feed, but am not sure how long the alcohol will affect the milk for?

TIA

bessie, please don't bother to express. It does not hurry the 'exit' of the alcohol from your milk. If you search the mumsnet archives you will find information that explains the mechanism - basically, alcohol moves out of your milk at the same rate it moves out of your blood, that is, at about 1 - 2 hours per unit. If you have 2 glasses of wine with your lunch, there will be no alcohol in your milk by the time you see your baby again
