One breast feels painful while feeding

My baby is 4 and a half months and exclusively breastfed. Over the past few hours I noticed that my left breast feels painful, the same kind of pain you get when you are engorged, except that it is soft and isn't engorged. When I fed from that breast at the last feed that was painful as well, where DS was latched but also sort of all over the breast.

I have felt all around very carefully and gently and there is no lump in the breast. Should I be worried? Is there anything I need to be doing? DS has been having a bit of a growth spurt so maybe I've just been a bit overstimulated.

Keep an eye on it and if it persists or gets worse, speak to your gp or midwife. Might be thrush starting but you'll soon know if so or might simply be that ds has caught a spot on your breast when he latches on that is causing pain. Unlikely to be anything more sinister but worth checking out if it continues.

Seems to be a bit better this morning so not too worried, will post again if it gets any worse.

Glad it's improved. All the best.
