Help - worried I'm drying up

DS is 10.5 months and I seem to have less and less milk. I don't express any more and he now has to have formula during the day whilst I'm at work. He used to go on strike and then guzzle as soon as I got home but now I simply don't have enough milk and he needs topping up. I can only manage the morning and evening feeds and even then I sometimes offer to top him up. My main concern is that he's not drinking enough milk but I don't see what else I can do other than offer the breast whenever I can and formula at other times. Is this the beginning of the end of breastfeeding (though I don't see DS giving it up that easily) or is there anything I can do to get it back? I'm not eating or drinking much at the moment - could that have an impact? I long for the days when I had vast amounts of milk!

what makes you think you haev less milk? taking a top up doesn't mean anything re supply, it is well established by now.

i fed morning and evening some days / all day on others when i went back to work at 12m. my supply not bountiful either.

It's normal for your breasts to feel emptier as he gets older and if you are supplementing then of course your boobs won't produce as much.

To up your supply, at the weekend, have a 'nurse in', nurse him as often as possible to boost your supply, then when you go back to work next week, try to give him as much as possible (ie both boobs, for as long as he'll feed).

You will know if he's not having enough to drink if he's having strong smelling urine, his eyes look sunken or his mouth feels dry to touch. Otherwise, stop worrying, babies of this age don't actually drink as much as perhaps you think they do. If he is having a pint of fluid a day (including fluid from food) he's fine.

Well, I was going by how full my breast feels which isn't very. I say "breast" rather than "breasts" becuase the left one packed up a while ago because DS only uses the right. How weird is that? At the weekends I feed as much as I can to boost supply which seems to work a bit. I don't think he he dehydrated at all. Maybe I have more milk than I think. Although I offer DS never takes the top ups after I feed him.

Well if he's not taking the top ups, will you accept you have enough milk? Sounds like you have no problem other than normal motherly paranoia!
