Trouble BFing my 10mo DS - teeth & pulling

I BF my 10mo DS twice a day, morning & evening, he has a couple of bottles of formula during the day while I'm at work - this has been his pattern for the last couple of months.
DS now has two front upper teeth and I'm finding that he's 'resting' them on my nipple which gets painful after a while. I try to disengage him and relatch but doing this more than a couple of times gets him (understandably) upset and really interrupts what should be a peaceful, happy time. In addition, he's always had 'busy hands', but recently has started sort pushing my breast away at the same time as sucking and pulling back - the thing it reminds of most is when you see kittens 'kneading' their mothers when they suckle. The combination of the teeth and this kneading/pulling action really isn't comfortable.
Does anyone have any ideas to persuade him not to, or why he might be doing it? It's bad enough to make me think about stopping

try wearing an interesting looking necklace with large beads, he may be persuaded to mess with them instead.

I don't envy you. my 12 month old now has four teeth and I noticed he was chewing and biting down on his tippee cup with his bedtime milk, glad I stopped last month

Have you tried different nursing positions as well?

Ladybee, compressing the breast actually does result in more milk being released so perhaps your clever baby has figured this out? Have found with teeth, if you pus their face into the breast they do stop the biting but it is hard to do!
