breastfeeding and alcohol

Went out last night and had rather a few drinks while mum looked after 9 month old ds. He has had a bottle this morning instead of his am feed, and I haven't expressed so breasts are rather full.

Just wondering will my milk still contain last nights alcohol and therefore need to be expressed and discarded or is it safe to feed now as it's been at least 9 hours since last drink? Not sure how it works! Any thoughts?

I would just feed him.

You don't need to express and discard - once it's out of your blood it is out of your milk (and only a tiny amount gets into milk in the first place). You'll be fine to feed and would have been this morning too, I'd say.

Hope you're not feeling too rough

I think it's in your milk for as long as its in your blood- about a unit and hour IIRC. I also go by the rule that if I'm okay to drive then I'm okay to BF.

i would just feed him. the amount that goes into your milk is minute.

Your body processes a unit an hour, however if you are unconcious there is still more alcohol in OJ than your milk.
