my 2 week newborn feeds near enough every 2/3 hours. if i dont feed her she crys. i think she is comfort eating cos when i gave her a dummy (once) she was happy as larry! the problem i have is that my 3 and half year old has just swapped her dummy for 2 guinea pigs. i dont want to b in that situation again.

does anyone have any advise on how to introduce a dummy without them getting too dependant on it, and the ideal age to the wean them off it.

im still in two minds as to wether i should give it to her or not.

please help

Every 2/3 hours sounds pretty normal for a newborn.

Re the dummies I think it's best to hold off, or if you give one then only use it occasionally phase it out by the time she is 3/4 months as she won't be so attached then.
