question about storing breastmilk

i've just read that frozen breast milk should be stored in special freezer bags as ' chemicals from ordinary plastic bags can leach into the milk'. i have loads of the stuff in normal tesco freezer bags. please tell me i don't have to chuck it all! it would break my heart.

Hi Billyyog - not sure if the breast milk bags would be free of chemicals or not (they are plastic too afterall) but I guess you can minimize the problem by not heating the milk in the bags.

When I needed to thaw the milk, I think I used to leave it outside just long enough to come easily out of the bag and then gently re-heat it.

Hope this helps.
