Preparing water to make up formula

I've heard that you cannot use softened, boiled water to to make up formula but can you use water that has run through a filter? Or is that the same thing?

i understood that you should use boiled tap water in the UK. not sure about softened water but i know that any mineral water should be avoided.

Yes but can I Brita filter the tap water, or is that the same as 'softening' it?

i think advice is not to, because it takes stuff out of the water.

but i think someone on here asked Brita and Brita said it was fine.
but then, they would wouldn't they??

so erm, in short- i'm not sure!
I wouldn't bother personally, just use it from the tap, boil and make up the formula

We use water from the brita, on the basis that the formula companies can't assume that there will be certain nutrients in the water (as water varies across the country), so that can't be a problem, and brita filters don't add anything to artificially soften the water, so no problem there.
