Sterilised bottles

Hi, quick q regarding this.
With ds1 I prepared formula 'old skool' and stored bottles in fridge and warmed as needed. I am aware this is against current guidlines and although i thought I'd just do the same with ds2, but have now decided that to follow guidlines isn't such a hardship, so, do I have to sterilise each bottle as needed or can I sterilise a couple and have them empty in the cupboard for when I need them?

I sterilised as needed at first.... but I was only giving ds ebm in bottles so I as I understood it sterilising wasn't such an issue... but you know, first baby and all that. Eventually I got bored of that and once ds was a bit older I sterilised a couple of bottles, assembled them and put them in the fridge. My thinking being that any bacteria from my hands that did get on the bottles wouldn't grow that much in the fridge as it was too cold. Don't know if my logic is right, but ds never had any problems. Eventually he was mix fed and we carried on doing that.

Well with my first, I sterilised, put boiled water in bottles, cooled them, stored them in fridge and added powder when I needed and warmed either in hot water or microwave. Have been doing the same this past day newbie has been home but we are pooping out this afternoon and I thought I'd boil water just before we go, add powder straight away and put in a thermo bag (the avent one) as feed is due half hour after we leave (ish) so thought that'd be easier than taking boiling water to warm and then realised that this is how you supposed to do it anyway.

As bottles are no longer sterile when you take the lid off (the steriliser) what's the harm in putting them together and having them ready enpty?

Sterilise in 3s, rather than one by one. I used to do what littleboyblue did, putting the boiled water in the fridge, but now I boil the water for each feed because there's 4 hours between so I might as well. Amazing how many times I forget until too late and then have to cool in a hurry.

Sorry, don't know why I talked about you in the third person there, didn't realise until after posting you were OP!

Hahaha EB no worries, I was eager to get some advice as I have 1 bottle of waer in fridge which I can now discard and 3 bottles washed, so wanted to know if I could do all of them now.....that's why I was bump bump bump!
